Library Use
All students will visit
the library every two weeks with their reading teacher. Students
may use the library during other classes, when the library is available,
with a pass from the teacher. When entering the library, the student
will sign his or her full name and teacher's name on a sign-in sheet and
their assignment. Appropriate behavior is expected at all times.
Students will be asked to leave if they cannot abide by library rules.
Student
Book Bags
All book bags will be
deposited in a designated area when entering the library.. Materials
needed for the hour can be taken to the tables but not the book bags.

Book
Checkouts
All books will be circulated
by computer for a two-week period. Students will be allowed to have
three (3) books out at tone time. Students need to read all three
books before checking out anymore. When students return to the library
in two weeks and have only two of their 3 books, they can check out two
more and renew the one they have not read or if they have read all three
books, they can check out 3 more books. Books may be renewed if there
is no request for them. Students may not check out books if they have lost
books or over-due books. IF A STUDENT HAS 3 BOOKS OUT AND RETURNS
2 BOOKS, HE OR SHE MAY NOT CHECK OUT A BOOK, BECAUSE THE BOOK THAT WAS
NOT RETURNED WAS DUE THEREFORE, THE STUDENT NOW HAS AN OVERDUE BOOK.

Overdue
Charges
Overdue charges will be
10 cents per day for each overdue book. The maximum fine will be
$2.00. When the book is overdue one month, the book will be declared
lost. Students will not be able to check out materials until they
pay for the lost book or return the book and pay the accumulated fine.

Lost
or Damaged Books
Students will pay the
price of the book plus a processing fee of $3.00 for the following:
water damage, confetti, or lost book. If the book is later found
in good condition (prior to the end of the school year), all money will
be refunded except the processing fee. Damaged or missing bar codes
will cost $1.00.
Research
- Computers for Research
When using a computer
for research, students will check out a computer station just as checking
out a book. After being assigned a computer station, the student
will sign a computer sign-in sheet. Before a student can access
the Internet, he or she must first have a signed Internet Agreement on
file in the library.

Research
Scheduling
At the beginning of each
month, all teachers will be given a library schedule noting the days the
library will be available for research. To schedule one or more days
in the library, the teacher needs to check the schedule with the librarian
at least two days in advance.

Conduct
Students will be expected
to allow the librarian or library worker to check all materials carried
from the library. There will be NO GUM, CANDY, OR FOOD OF ANY KIND
allowed in the library. Students are expected to be self-disciplined
and use their time in the library to read and/or to do research.
